Happy President's Day!

In honor of President's Day, I thought it would be fun to look at some food facts about some of the great presidents of the past.  

President's Food Trivia*:

President George Washington: favorite food from the protein food group was fish and nuts
 
President Jefferson:  first person in northern America to grow a tomato
 
President Andrew Jackson: loved fresh milk from the dairy food group so much that he kept a cow at the white house
 
President Abraham Lincoln:  enjoyed an apple from the fruit food group and had one every day at lunchtime
 
President Woodrow Wilson: two days a week had requested no meat on Mondays and no wheat on Wednesday
 
President Dwight Eisenhower; enjoyed cooking
 
President Jimmy Carter:  owned a peanut farm
 
President John F. Kennedy: one his favorite foods was soup, in particular chowder
 
President Bush:  announced publicly that he did not like broccoli
 
President Obama:  favorite food to cook is chili
