Dental Care Tips for Halloween

From our blog archive- October is Dental Hygiene Month. A sweet month for teaching kids to take care of their teeth, how to teach kids, tips for Halloween sweets, resources, and a fun brushing teeth video for kids. Get Moving- being active with kids

Halloween is a great time to enjoy being active. The cool weather that comes along with the fall season is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as a family and be more active during the season.

  • Enjoy a nature walk with the kids- Take advantage of the beautiful foliage and collect orange, red and yellow leaves. Make a decorative wreath, a seasonal display, or paste leaves on construction paper to decorate the house.
  • During October visit a local pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkins and gourds. Many pumpkin patch locations have other activities such as corn mazes, haunted houses, and hay rides. Pack up some sandwiches and spend the day!
  • Get moving- have kids help raking the autumn leaves, collect leaves to build your own scarecrow.
  • Witchy Walk: Take a long walk around your neighborhood to enjoy the frightening decorations and socialize with your neighbors. When trick-or-treating with your kids, walk to the farthest house first and make your way back home to encourage a little extra physical activity or visit the malls to walk and look at Halloween decorations.
  • Set up a scavenger hunt in the yard- give children clues to find healthy treats or seasonal goodies you have hidden.
