USDA Daily Meal Plans Requirements For A Balanced Healthy Eating

 

The following summary meal plan represents one full day of food.

The guidelines are based on the USDA MY Plate Food Guidelines.  

To determine how much your child needs, the USDA determined the calories and servings by food group based on your child's:

  • age
  • gender
  • activity level

Learn more about kids activity and exercise.

  • Low Activity (sedentary):  less than 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity in addition to daily activities. (Examples of moderate activities are walking briskly, hiking, dancing, bicycling)
  • Medium Activity: at least 30 minutes up to 60 minutes a day of moderate physical activity in addition to daily activities. (Examples of moderate activities are walking briskly, hiking, dancing, bicycling)
  • High Activity: 60 or more minutes a day of moderate physical activity in addition to daily activities. (Examples of moderate activities are walking briskly, hiking, dancing, bicycling)
