Get Your Plate In Shape - National Nutrition Month

Posted on Mar 02, 2012 by Maggie LaBarbera

Happy National Nutrition Month®!

It is finally here!  Thank you to everyone who has been supporting us as we all worked together to help kids eat healthier!

We had over 1200 people participate and reached over 45000 people with our message!  We could not have done it without all you and we just want to say thank-you.

So how did we help kids get their plate in shape?

  • We helped kids choose healthier snacks
  • We helped them choose cereals higher in fiber
  • We taught them to make half their grains "whole grains"
  • We encouraged children to add more fruits and vegetables to their plate.
  • We reminded kids the importance of a healthy breakfast with foods from all the food groups
  • We also raised awareness of food allergies in children.

Starting next week, we will be giving away a $20 gift card to Whole Foods every week.  We want everyone to continue to help children do one simple change each week to get their plate in shape!  Join Us!  Make your pledge.

National Nutrition Month is a great time for activities in the classroom that center around eating healthy foods and for parents to take inventory of their family meal patterns.

Whether you are at school, work or home, reach out to the children in our lives and share one or two fun nutrition activities to help get them started.

Here are some printables and games that kids will love to play and learn how to get their plate in shape!
