Free Healthy Halloween Printables | Halloween Resources Halloween can be a 'scaaary' time for parents who try to encourage children to make healthy food choices. From classroom Halloween party treats to the high sugar kids food advertising and product placement in the grocery stores, it seems high sugar foods and unhealthy foods are jumping out and sending messages to our kids at every turn.

We propose a healthy Halloween Challenge- let's try to make Halloween season healthy and fun! This is a perfect time be a role model and discuss and show your children that you spend time thinking about healthier choices.

This helps kids learn that healthy eating is very important to you and the family and that sugar does not =FUN!

We believe healthy is FUN! Try to keep it a fun and a positive experience, you can even make it a game to 'hunt' in the grocery store for healthier Halloween choices together.

Quick Fact: According to the US Census Bureau, the Average American eats 25 pounds of candy every year with a large portion of that eaten during Halloween time.

If your child eats 12 treats that is about equal to 30 packets of sugar. Now, who would give their child 30 packets of sugar. It adds up quickly, all that sugar hidden in a small piece of candy. Candy is fine for a once in awhile food but as parents we need to look outside the candy isle and this helps to teach kids fun does not equal sugar!
